Melbourne Guitar Festival
Melbourne Guitar Foundation was founded by Michael MacManus (B.Mus(Hons)) and Evan Hopkins (M.Mus) in 2014 with a mission to promote and cultivate classical guitar performance in Australia.
Established to engage local guitarists in contributing towards a culture of learning, support and collaboration, the Foundation offers masterclasses, individual lessons, concerts, competitions and festivals that feature the best classical guitarists throughout the world.
Through nurturing and developing an Australia-wide community of professional concert artists, teachers, amateurs and enthusiasts alike, the MGF works to encourage and support the development of a new generation of Australian classical guitar concert artists.
The MGF annually presents the Melbourne International Guitar Festival which features international and local guest artists in concert, masterclasses & workshops, demonstrations & displays as well as Australia’s most prestigious Classical Guitar Competition.
